Principal's Message:
Welcome to Lakeside Preparatory Academy. I am pleased to work with parents, education agencies and staff to ensure that our students receive a top notch education which will help develop world citizens who are informed, prepared and committed to making a contribution to society.
Choosing a suitable school is an important and difficult task. I believe that parents and educational agents should take the time to do their research in selecting a school which best meets the needs of their children.
In my view, Lakeside offers a number of advantages for students:
1. Small size: Lakeside is a community. Our students are a family which supports and encourages development socially and educationally. Regular communication ensures that students do not get ignored or left behind.
2. Class sizes which range from 5-10 students afford the opportunity for a great deal of individual attention and instruction.
3. A wide range of compulsory, extra-curricular activities enrich the students' experiences at Lakeside.
4. The warm, friendly atmosphere helps students to focus on their studies in a safe environment.
This year, Lakeside was evaluated by a committee representing the Ministry of Education of British Columbia. This report is available to the public. The committee commended our school in a number of areas:
-The supportive, nurturing environment for both its boarding international students and its local day students, and the positive, joyful energy demonstrated by administration and staff in their daily interactions with students.
-The appointment of a principal, who is visionary, and understands the needs of Lakeside Academy and leads the staff in systematically achieving the school's goals.
-Ample evidence of daily planning which includes a variety of teaching strategies, assessment practices and personalized instruction.
We are proud of this evaluation and look forward to meeting the challenges of providing an excellent education to all our students.
